Hi, it’s Alex! I just got back from an amazing week at Camp Horizon in Kananaskis, and I had the best time ever! Even though it rained for two whole days, my best friend and I didn’t let that stop us—we braved the high ropes and even tried archery in the pouring rain! I got to sing my song “I Wanted to Walk” in front of everyone, which was such a special moment for me. I made new friends, reconnected with old ones, and even added a new pink tie-dye shirt to my collection.
My favourite thing about camp is that it makes me feel like any other person who can do anything—I love that every day is a new adventure! From campfires filled with songs and laughter to arts and crafts, games, and a trip to Forget-Me-Not Pond where we went rafting, it was nonstop fun. I even got a bucket of water dumped on me at the splash park and ran through the sprinklers—it was so much fun!
The week ended with banquet night, where we all dressed up and danced the night away. I can’t wait to go back next year for even more adventures!
Why Camp Horizon is My Happy Place

Every summer, I can’t wait to go to Camp Horizon. It’s the most amazing place where I have the best week ever! There are so many fun things to do, and they’re all made for kids with disabilities like me.
The giant swing is super exciting, and the climbing wall makes me feel like a superhero. I love splashing around in the splash park and zooming around in pedal carts. The high ropes course is a thrilling adventure, and river rafting makes me feel like a real explorer. The coolest part is that everything is easy to access, so I can try it all!
Camp Horizon is also where I meet the best friends. The camp councillors ors are awesome—they make sure everyone feels welcome and has fun. By the end of the week, I never want to leave, but I know I’ll be back next year.
Tucked away in the beautiful mountains of Kananaskis country, Camp Horizon is a magical place where fun and friendship come alive. I can’t imagine summer without it!
